Men's Golf in 8th Place Heading into Sunday at Big Tens

NORTH PLAINS, Oregon - Rutgers men's golf completed the second round of the Big Ten Championships on Saturday, ending the day in eighth place at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club on the Witch Hollow Course.
The Scarlet Knights built off a strong opening round and remained steady against a loaded Big Ten Conference field in round two. Rutgers sits at 12-over par in eighth place after posting a team score of 5-over par on Saturday. UCLA leads the field through 36 holes at 10-under par.
Sophomore Bennett Espenshade and graduate student Jeffrey Zatorski paced the Scarlet Knights in the second round, each carding even-par 70s. Senior Luke Koenig finished at 2-over par and closed with an impressive 34 on the back nine. Espenshade, Zatorski, and Koenig are all tied for 25th individually at 3-over par for the tournament.
Sophomore Argyle Downes posted a 3-over par round that featured three birdies on the back nine. Freshman Lucas Politano finished the day at 4-over par and is tied for 35th overall.
Saturday's round featured favorable scoring conditions with light winds and temperatures in the mid-60s. Similar championship conditions are expected Sunday, with low winds and temperatures reaching the mid-80s in North Plains, Oregon.
Washington is in second place at 1-over par, followed by Illinois in third at 5-over. Nebraska, Purdue, and USC are tied for fourth at 10-over par.
With one final round remaining in the 2025-26 Big Ten Championships, the Scarlet Knights will look to finish strong and climb the leaderboard on Sunday.
Rutgers tees off for the third and final round on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. from Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. Sunday's final round will air on Big Ten Network beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET.
