PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers women's basketball head coach Gary Redus II rounded out his support staff this week with the official hiring of Director of Recruiting Operations De'Mauri Flournoy and Strength and Conditioning Ryan Cabiles.
Flournoy comes "On The Banks" after spending the past year at Tennessee as a FellowVol. In her role, she supported the daily operations of the athletic department through administrative, event management and operational responsibilities. She worked closely with senior leadership, internal departments and external partners to help execute athletic events and department initiatives across multiple sports.
Prior to her time on Rocky Top, Flournoy spent the final three years of her collegiate career at Georgia. During her senior campaign, she started 14 games and appeared in all 32 contests. The 5-foot-8 guard ranked fourth in the SEC and led the team in three-point field goal percentage. Her 40.4 shooting percentage from beyond the arc marked the sixth-best single-season percentage in program history. She also ranked eighth in the SEC in three-pointers made per game (2.2) and recorded 18 double-figure scoring performances.
Flournoy made an impact off the court as well, serving on the SEC Leadership Council along with both Georgia's Inclusive Excellence Committee and Women's Leadership Committee.
Cabiles comes to Rutgers after serving as the director of strength and conditioning for Syracuse men's (18 seasons) and women's basketball (16 seasons). He helped the teams to a combined three Final Four appearances as well as 16 NBA and five WNBA Draft picks. He began his career at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he worked as a student athletic trainer from 1996-98. He earned his bachelor's degree in sports injury management in 1998 before serving as the strength and conditioning coach for the men's basketball and tennis teams from 1999-2000.
Cabiles brings professional experience to the court as well, as he spent seven years with the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers organization, while also doubling his duties as head strength coach for the original Portland Fire from 2000-02. Cabiles additionally worked as a tester for the NBA Pre-Draft Combines in Orlando and Chicago and served as the Houston Rockets' Assistant Summer League Strength Coach in 2025.
Before joining Syracuse, Cabiles spent six years as the head strength and conditioning coach at Portland.
Cabiles is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association earning the honor of Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach Emeritus (RSCC*E) in February of 2025. He is also TPI Level 1 Certified through the Titleist Performance Institute.
