Scarlet Knights Register 20 Hits In Run-Rule Win - The Most In Records Dating Back To 2003
MADISON, Wisc. – The Rutgers softball team closed out the 2026 season with a win, taking the series finale from Wisconsin, 16-2, in five innings.
The Scarlet Knights recorded 20 hits, the most in records dating back to 2003, with home runs from Sam Rohwer, Jayla Fuller and Siera Hoekstra.
Rutgers finishes the year at 27-27 overall and 6-18 in the Big Ten.

| STATISTICALLY SPEAKING |
- Nine different Scarlet Knights registered a hit as RU posted 20 hits, the most in records dating back to 2003 and most since hitting 19 against Michigan State on April 4, 2015. RU scored in all five innings.
- Senior Mia Mitchell capped off her career going 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
- Junior Sam Rohwer recorded her team-leading 17th home run of the season and her sixth lead-off blast of the year. She finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
- Rutgers also saw home runs from sophomore Jayla Fuller and senior Siera Hoekstra, marking the 20th game of the year with multiple home runs. Hoekstra connected for her second of the series and third of the season and ended the day 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Fuller registered her second of the year and closed out the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
- Sophomore Addie Osborne was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and classmate Riley Hwang went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
- The defense, meanwhile, turned a season-high three double plays.
- Junior Brooke Shifflett tossed her third complete game of the season, allowing one earned run on two hits and three walks. She upped her mark to 9-8 in the circle.

- Sam Rohwer delivered her sixth lead-off home run of the year, taking her third pitch deep to left center, to give the Scarlet Knight the early edge.
- Wisconsin loaded the bases in their first trip to the plate and was able to plate two to take the lead. Emily Bojan scored on a passed ball, and Emma King gave the Badgers a 2-1 advantage, scoring on a groundout by Kaylie Whidden.
- Another RU home run gave the lead back to the Scarlet Knights in the second. Jayla Fuller went down the left field line and over the wall for a two-run blast and a 3-2 lead.
- Rutgers added on with nine runs, all scored with two outs in the third, to take a 10-run lead at 12-2. Altogether, the Scarlet Knights produced nine hits, including a three-run home run from Siera Hoekstra, a two-run double from Mia Mitchell, and a two-run single by Riley Hwang. Fuller, who started off the scoring barrage with a double to center, and Addie Osborne also collected RBIs in the inning.
- The Scarlet Knights added three more runs with two outs in the fourth. Rutgers loaded the bases on back-to-back singles from Rohwer and Hwang and a walk by Osborne. Baileigh Burtis became the seventh Scarlet Knight to collect an RBI on a base hit to right and Mitchell added two more run on a single thru the left side to push RU ahead 15-2.
- Rohwer, who kicked off the contest with RU's first run, also pushed across the Scarlet Knights' final run of the day on an RBI double in the fifth.
