Jun 16 | General
TRENTON, N.J. - RevolutionNJ, in partnership with the New Jersey Department of State, Choose New Jersey, and Rutgers University, today announced "Rev, White & Blue" New Jersey's official celebration of America's 250th anniversary—a once-in-a-generation event honoring the state's pivotal role in the nation's founding. The free celebration will take place Thursday, July 2, at SHI Stadium on Rutgers University–New Brunswick campus and will feature interactive exhibits, historical tributes, family-friendly activities, and immersive experiences along The Rutgers Boardwalk on Scarlet Knights Way, capped by a headline concert performance by New Jersey native and multi-platinum singer-songwriter Nick Jonas.
Free tickets will be available here on a limited basis starting on June 17, 2026 at 10 a.m.
The date holds special significance for New Jersey, marking the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the state's first constitution on July 2, 1776.
"New Jersey was at the center of America's founding, and now we are once again taking center stage as we welcome visitors for our 250th anniversary celebration and the FIFA World Cup," said Governor Sherrill. "We are excited to showcase the Garden State—from our rich history and world-class attractions to our thriving local businesses, stunning natural landscapes, and vibrant arts and cultural communities. It is also a chance to celebrate the people whose spirit and drive define New Jersey, from our historical heroes to our entrepreneurs to our hometown stars, like Nick Jonas. As the world turns its attention to New Jersey, we are proud to share our story, both past and present, and show the best our state has to offer."
"Celebrations of this magnitude are unique, offering residents, students, and visitors a meaningful opportunity to engage with the stories, people, and enduring ideals that have helped shape New Jersey and, in turn, our nation," said Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State Dr. Dale Caldwell. "By bringing history to life, we deepen appreciation for the generations that came before us, but also strengthen the bonds of community, civic pride, and shared purpose that continue to define the character and promise of our state. Rev, White & Blue will be a fun and exciting day to commemorate New Jersey and American history together."
Known as the Crossroads of the American Revolution, New Jersey was the site of more battles and military engagements than any other colony during the war. The July 2 celebration will bring that history to life through educational programs, historical storytelling, and community activities that invite residents, visitors, and students to reflect on the people, events, and ideals that have shaped both the state and the nation. The evening will conclude with a headline performance by Jonas and a fireworks display.
"New Jersey will always be home for me, so I'm honored to be part of Rev, White & Blue[MC1.1][DA1.2]," said Nick Jonas "It is an incredible milestone, and I'm so proud to celebrate right here in my home state of New Jersey. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on July 2nd. It's going to be a memorable day."
Raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey, Jonas has achieved worldwide recognition as a member of the Grammy-nominated Jonas Brothers and as a solo artist, actor, and Broadway performer. As one of the state's most recognizable cultural figures, he will help cap an evening celebrating New Jersey's history, heritage, and contributions to the American story.
"Rutgers is an ideal host for this celebration, having been founded 10 years before our nation declared independence," said Rutgers University President William F. Tate IV. "Having provided the nation with so many consequential leaders in government and business, science and medicine, and the arts, we are glad to help showcase New Jersey's important place in American history and mark this very special milestone."
Founded in 1766, Rutgers is one of only nine colonial colleges established before American independence. Today, as the State University of New Jersey and a leading public research university, Rutgers advances learning, discovery, innovation, service, and health care across the state and beyond.
