Women’s Golf Summer Amateur Update

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's golf has enjoyed a number of impressive individual performances during this summer's amateur circuit, highlighted by rising graduate senior Grace Lu's qualification for the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.
Lu tied for first at her 18-hole qualifier last month at Copper Hill Country Club, carding a three-under-par 69 to punch her ticket to the 126th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, held Aug. 4-9 at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
Lu, who also earned a semifinal finish at the 101st New Jersey Women's Amateur Championship earlier this month and a runner-up finish at the Women's Met Open Championship, is the first Scarlet Knight to secure a spot at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship since Leigha Devine in 2022.
"It's been an exciting summer for our Scarlet Knights," said head coach Kari Williams. "The team has worked hard and challenged themselves at many top-ranked events, and we are proud to see the results and scores they've posted over the past few weeks. Each one of these experiences is beneficial for our players as there is no substitute for competing under pressure, and this is momentum we will carry into our fall season when we get started in August."

Elizabeth Ryu
A two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week last season, Ryu finished second (74-77-71) at the Women's Eastern Amateur from June 9-11 at Occano Golf and Boat Club in Merry Hill, North Carolina. Ryu followed that performance with three wins in match play at the Ohio Women's Amateur Championships at Moraine Country Club before falling in the semifinals.
Joline Truong
The rising junior produced back-to-back top 10 results in July. Truong tied for 10th at the Ontario Women's Amateur with a 75-70-73-69 before she carded a 77-70-71 at the PGA Women's Championship of Canada to tie for eighth. Truong also competed at the Canadian Women's Amateur from July 21-24 at the Toronto Golf Club in Mississauga, Ontario.
Emily James
The rising senior carded several notable finishes during summer play, representing Team Wales at the European Ladies' Team Championship from July 7-11 at PGA National Slieve Russell in Ballyconnens, County Cavan, Ireland. James went 3-0 in match play to help Wales go undefeated in their event flight at the championships.
James also produced a runner-up result at the Walton Heath Trophy from July 21-23 in Tadworth, Surrey, England with a 14-under-par 282 (70-70-72-70). James opened the summer with a tied-for-14th finish at the English Women's Amateur from June 16-18 at the Ganton Golf Club in Yorkshire, England.
Lorena Rossettin
After missing all of last season due to injury, the rising senior returned to action this summer in Italy. Rossettin tied for third with a 73-79-73 at the Gran Premio Castello di Tolcinasco, held July 8-10 at the Castello Tolcinasco Golf Resort in Milan.
Kayleigh Mulholland
The incoming freshman represented Team Ireland at the European Girls' Team Championship, held July 7-11 at Golf & Country Club Zurich in Zumikon, Switzerland. Mulholland shot 71-73 in stroke play qualification and went 3-0 in match play to help Team Ireland go 3-0 in their flight.
Mulholland also earned a runner-up finish at the Ulster U18 Girls' Open Championship from June 24-26 at the Kilkeel Golf Club in Kilkeel, County Down, Northern Ireland. There, Mulholland carded a 75-82-79 across three rounds of play.
