Matthew Colagiovanni, senior associate athletic director – events and operations, is in his 16th year at Rutgers after joining the department of intercollegiate athletics in January 2001.
In his current role, Colagiovanni oversees the administration, supervision and coordination of scheduling, operations, logistics and maintenance for the department of facilities and operations. In addition, his oversight extends to the athletic department's IT staff.
Colagiovanni also serves as the sport administrator to the men’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, and men’s and women’s track and field programs.
In addition to working with his programs on a daily basis and serving as a liaison between Olympic sports and various departments within Rutgers Athletics, Colagiovanni directs and supervises three coordinators of facilities and events, three athletic electricians and two athletic mechanics.
An on-site administrator for event personnel during football and men’s and women’s basketball events on campus, Colagiovanni coordinates capital and renovation projects for programs and facilities. His duties also include planning preventative mechanical/electrical maintenance programs for athletic buildings and equipment.
From 2007-2014, Colagiovanni worked as an assistant athletic director – operations for Olympic sports, within the department. His other roles at Rutgers included serving as director of facilities and events (2002-07) and assistant director of facilities and events (2001-02).
Prior to Rutgers, Colagiovanni worked as the assistant facility manager at Washington University, Missouri. As facility manager, he assisted with the overall operation of facilities, physical education, intramural, and campus recreational programs.
Colagiovanni completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts in May of 1997. He obtained his Masters of Education in May of 1999 with a focus in sport administration from Wichita State University. He and his wife, Jamie, currently reside in Bethlehem, Pa. and are the proud parents of four daughters: Ava, Lea, Jenna, and Emma.
