Football Gameday Policies

No pets are permitted in athletic facilities (with the exception of service dogs).
Small, non–professional cameras without an external flash or extendable lens may be brought into the venue on their own or in a clear plastic bag. Please note that for certain events, cameras may not be permitted. Fans may not reproduce any film, digital, video, or audio recording for commercial purpose without the express written consent of Rutgers Athletics.
Rutgers Athletics requires all patrons, regardless of age to have a ticket for all football games. The Athletic Department will allow one lap child without charge when attending an event with a ticketed adult. To obtain a complimentary lap ticket, a parent or guardian can request the ticket at the stadium's North Gate Ticket Office. Please check the event’s ticket policies at the time of purchase as ticket policies may vary per event
Patrons attempting to enter the stadium or arena with a counterfeit ticket will be refused admission. Rutgers Athletics cannot guarantee the authenticity of a ticket that has not been purchased through the Rutgers Ticket Office. Fans who believe they have a counterfeit ticket should go to the Ticket Office at the North Gates (Gates C & D).

In conjunction with Homeland Security, Rutgers will strictly enforce its bag policy. Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and approximately 12" x 6" x 12", or one-gallon clear plastic bags or similar, and small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, can be taken into athletic venues. Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection. Sticks of all types, including selfie sticks, are strictly prohibited inside the stadium.
Due to Homeland Security guidelines, no outside food and beverage will be permitted into the stadium. An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the Guest Services gates designated for this purpose.
Lost or found items can be brought to the customer service window at the top of Section 116, located at the North Ticket office.
There is no re-entry into SHI Stadium. No pass outs allowed.
Prohibited items include outside food and beverages, bottles, cans, alcoholic beverages, coolers, umbrellas, strollers, noisemaking devices, balloons, laser pointers, pets (with the exception of service dogs), balls, weapons, sticks/poles, containers, fireworks, clothing/costumes deemed inappropriate and any other items deemed dangerous or inappropriate from being brought into the facility.
Per university regulations, smoking is not permitted in the seating area, bathrooms, and lower/upper concourses.
There is no re– entry into SHI Stadium. No pass outs allowed. All spectators must present their own ticket. All items brought into the stadium will be inspected. SHI Stadium regulations prohibit outside food and beverages, bottles, cans, alcoholic beverages, coolers, umbrellas, noisemaking devices, balloons, laser pointers, pets (with the exception of service animals), balls, weapons, sticks/poles, containers, fireworks, and any other items deemed dangerous or inappropriate from being brought into the facility. By use of your ticket, you consent to a reasonable search for prohibited items. Ticket stubs are not valid for re–entry. The selling of any item by anyone other than university–authorized personnel in and around SHI Stadium, including the parking lots, is prohibited. Violators are subject to prosecution.
Per university regulations, there is no smoking on any Rutgers property, including electronic devices.
Please be advised, strollers are prohibited in SHI Stadium.
- Parking lots are open five (5) hours prior to kickoff. Parking spaces are limited and tailgating must be confined to a small area behind or in front of your vehicle.
- Traffic aisles and parking spaces cannot be blocked at any time. Spectators wishing to park together must enter lots at the same time, displaying matching passes.
- All stadium parking lots will be reserved for those attending the game. If you do not attend the game, you will be asked to leave the stadium parking lots at kickoff time.
- University regulations and state statutes on drug and alcohol consumption will be strictly enforced. Kegs, beer balls, and tents/ canopies larger than 10'x10' are prohibited.
- These items are not permitted in the parking lots/adjacent areas at any time.
- For safety purposes, charcoal should be discarded in specially marked yellow barrels located throughout the parking lots.
- Open flames other than approved grills are not permitted. Camp fires/ bonfires are prohibited
To notify the Rutgers University Police Department during the course of a home football game, please follow these instructions:
- Text: "RUFAN" your LOCATION and the PROBLEM to 67283
- Example: "RUFAN Section 121, Row 10, Seat 12 medical emergency"
We encourage Rutgers football fans to use this system whenever they see an incident or problem in the stadium that should be reported to Rutgers Police so emergency personnel can respond to the scene as quickly as possible.
FREE Shuttle Service from Downtown New Brunswick: Buses depart regularly beginning three hours prior to kick-off at the New Brunswick Train Station Albany Street Bus Stop (located next to the taxi cab waiting area) and return up to three hours after the game. Fans traveling by train via NJ Transit (from NY or Philadelphia) Take the Northeast Corridor train to the New Brunswick Station.
Rideshare drop off is located in the back of the SILVER LOT. Rideshare pick up is located on Allison Road at the Allison Road Classroom Building.
To ensure safety and field visibility for all patrons, umbrellas are not permitted in SHI Stadium.
Though the Mamava App, guests can utilize the lactation pods at SHI Stadium. There are two pods in the stadium - one behind section 229 (east side) and the other behind section 214 (west side).
