Luke Carrezola is in his third season on the Rutgers staff and first as defensive tackles coach in 2026. A native of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, he previously coached at New Hampshire and Connecticut after being a three-year starter for the Huskies and seeing professional action in the NFL and AAF. His brother, Paul, was a four-year letterwinner (2010-13) for the Scarlet Knights.
• Carrezola took over as defensive tackles coach in 2026 after spending two seasons (2024-25) as assistant defensive line coach.
• DL Eric O’Neill led the team with 9.5 tackles-for-loss in 2025, while DL Farell Gnago forced a fumble late in the win at Purdue to help lead to the go-ahead field goal as time expired.
• In 2024, the Scarlet Knights posted a winning season and earned an invitation to the Rate Bowl following a three-win November. The defensive line saw DL Kyonte Hamilton and DL Aaron Lewis both earn honorable mention All-Big Ten honors. Hamilton was selected in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft by Houston.
• Carrezola spent the 2023 season as New Hampshire’s defensive line coach. The Wildcats ranked No. 21 nationally in the FCS in third down defense (.333), as both DL Dylan Ruiz and DL Josiah Silver were named Second Team All-CAA.
• Spending four seasons (2019-22) on his alma mater’s staff at Connecticut, he was promoted to defensive analyst in 2022 after working three seasons as a graduate assistant with the defensive line.
• The Huskies earned a bid to the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl, its first postseason appearance since 2015.
• DL Travis Jones, an interior lineman, was selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft by Baltimore.
• A three-year starter for Connecticut, Carrezola led the team in tackles for loss in 2015 and 2016 while helping the Huskies reach the St. Petersburg Bowl in 2015. He was named to the 2017 Football Leadership Council as a senior.
• Carrezola graduated UConn with a master’s degree in sport management and a bachelor’s degree in economics.
• Carrezola saw rookie minicamp action with Kansas City and Washington before playing for the Salt Lake Stallions in the Alliance of American Football (AAF) under Hall of Fame head coach Dennis Erickson.
