    Director of Football Nutrition
Rob Deese is in his first season on the Rutgers football staff as sports scientist/assistant nutritionist in 2021. A native of Kingston, New York, he assists with all aspects of football performance nutrition. That includes body composition assessment and analysis and daily coaching of athletes to achieve optimal body composition. In addition, he assists with the collection and visualization of GPS data.

Deese previously worked at Stony Brook from Jan. 2019 through April 2021 as assistant athletic performance coach. The job involved designing and implementing speed, plyometric and conditioning programs for football. Also overseeing programming and training for men’s soccer and track and field, he was responsible for the collection, analysis and visualization of all training load and key performance data, such as GPS and heart rate data.

Prior, Deese served as strength and conditioning intern for the New York Jets in 2018. He also worked at the University of Buffalo and Columbia in a similar role dealing with speed, strength and conditioning.

Deese merited recognition as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also first aid and CPR certified.

A member of the Alpha Eta Honor Society, Deese earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Mercy College in Aug. 2018 and a master’s degree in liberal studies with an advanced graduate certificate in coaching from Stony Brook in Dec. 2020.
