Ryan Brooks, a native of Shelby, N.C., joined the Rutgers football staff in July 2023 as Director of Rehabilitation. Prior to his arrival “On the Banks”, he completed a Division I Sports Physical Therapy Fellowship with Duke Athletics from July 2022 through July 2023. His responsibilities included management of long-term rehabilitation cases with a number of sports including football, basketball and Olympic sports.
Brooks also served in a Sports Physical Therapy Residency at the University of Miami from August 2021 through July 2022, working with football, men’s and women’s basketball and track and field for the Hurricanes.
He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021. Brooks also earned a Master of Arts in Exercise Physiology and a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science from North Carolina in 2017 and 2015, respectively. During his education, Brooks interned as a strength and conditioning coach for multiple years with the olympic sports teams as well as the men’s basketball team at UNC. He is board certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS), a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and USA Weightlifting Level 2 (USAW-L2) certified coach.
