Tim Machan

Tim Machan is in his third season with Rutgers football and second as Director of Integrated High Performance in 2023. In his current role, Machan works closely with sports medicine, strength and conditioning, the team’s nutrition program as well as mental health, and helps facilitate coordination and collaboration among departments.

Prior to his arrival “On the Banks,” Machan spent four years at Cincinnati, where he oversaw the care of more than 500 student-athletes across 19 Division I programs as Director of Rehabilitation for the Bearcats’ sports medicine program.

Prior to his arrival at Cincinnati, Machan worked as a sports physical therapist with 5th Special Forces Group (Fort Campbell, Kentucky), EXOS (Fort Bragg, North Carolina) and True Sports Physical Therapy (Baltimore, Maryland). 

Machan played football at Washington University in St. Louis, where he lettered as a defensive back for the Bears from 2006-09. Machan appeared in 38 career games at Washington and finished with 183 tackles and 12 interceptions. Machan was a three-time all-conference selection and was named team MVP as a senior in 2009.

A native of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Machan graduated from Washington University in 2010 with his bachelor’s degree in psychology and earned his doctorate in physical therapy from the Washington University School of Medicine in 2013. He lives with his wife Emily on Staten Island.
