Tim Silvernail is in his second season as the director of recruiting for Rutgers football. He is back “On the Banks” after previously working with the Scarlet Knights in 2015.

In 2019, Silvernail served as the director of recruiting operations at Buffalo, leading all recruiting events on game days and visits. He also led advance travel to all away sites to ensure hotels, meals and meeting rooms were set. The Bulls earned a victory in the Bahamas Bowl, the first bowl win in program history. The class signed in the next signing period went on to help the team win the 2020 Camellia Bowl.

Silvernail previously worked three seasons at his alma mater, Massachusetts, as the team’s director of player personnel starting in Aug. 2016. In the role, he oversaw a multitude of operational efforts for the program, including his responsibility of coordinating the annual UMass Pro Day and serving as the team's NFL liaison. He was also responsible for maintaining open communication with the UMass compliance office, especially with relation to scholarship reporting, official visits and countable hours. He also planned and led all official and unofficial visits, managed all recruiting services relationships and oversaw the day-to-day administrative operations for the program.

Prior to his return to Amherst, Silvernail helped the Eastern Michigan football program make its first bowl game appearance in three decades with his efforts as a recruiting graduate assistant. From June 2015 through July 2016, Silvernail evaluated film and information, and instituted recruiting initiatives on the then-prospective student-athletes who eventually guided Eastern Michigan to its appearance in the 2016 Bahamas Bowl.

Additionally, Silvernail was integral in EMU's compliance efforts as he planned official and unofficial recruiting visits with academics, compliance and university faculty, and cooperated with athletic department staff to ensure compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations.

Following graduation and the completion of his post-graduate internship with the program, Silvernail joined the Rutgers football staff as the team's football operations intern. In his role with the Scarlet Knights, he researched proposed facility upgrades, assisted in coordination of future road trips and monitored compliance in distribution of Pell Grants.

Silvernail received his bachelor’s degree in sport management from the University of Massachusetts in Dec. 2014.
