Ben Shear
- Title:
- Strength & Conditioning Consultant
A Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified Level 3 Fitness Instructor, Ben Shear joins the Rutgers golf team for his first season as a strength and conditioning consultant. Shear will help the Scarlet Knights achieve optimal physical performance as the program continues its transition as a member of the Big Ten Conference.
“To have the services of Ben Shear, who is a world-renowned strength and conditioning coach, is invaluable,” said head coach Rob Shutte. “We couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with our student-athletes considering his deep experience in both the game of golf and sports performance in general. He is someone who will help develop our players physically, which is critical in the game right now as we continue to improve our program’s performance against the best of the Big Ten Conference.”
Certified in golf biomechanics by both TPI and Advanced Motion Measurements (AMM), Shear is one of the leading professionals in golf-specific fitness and comprehensive technical evaluations in the world. Shear has provided strength and conditioning, biomechanics and performance nutrition expertise to PGA Tour professionals, including former World Number One, Luke Donald, as well as US Open Champion Webb Simpson.
Shear has lent his knowledge to a number of organizations, including serving on the Advisory Staff of Golf Digest Magazine. Shear has also appeared on the Golf Channel’s “Golf Fitness Academy,” and can be heard on Sirius XM’s PGA Tour channel, hosting the weekly show, “Golfer’s Edge.”
