Zachary Oyer is in his third season as assistant men's golf coach at Rutgers University. A native of Madison, N.J., the former collegiate student-athlete brings a variety of golf instruction experience to "The Banks."
An accounting professional, Oyer has worked at Deloitte & Touche in Parsippany , N.J. since September 2011.
On the links, Oyer worked as a youth golf instructor and mentor at Fairmont Country Club from 2006 to 2011. In the role, he helped to educate children on the rules, etiquette, and particulars of the game. He also served as a driving range manager at Canoe Brook Country Club in the summer of 2008 after working as a youth golf instructor and mentor at The First Tee in Newark, N.J. in the summer of 2007. At First Tee, he counseled and mentored underprivileged children while teaching them core life values such as perseverance, honesty, and integrity.
Oyer was a four-year letterwinner at Muhlenberg College, where he earned a degree in accounting in 2011. As a senior, he led the team in average, which was the lowest in more than 15 years. He finished in the top five seven times during the 2010-11 season, including four top-three finishes. He earned medalist honors at the Messiah Falcon Classic, lifting the Mules to a first-place finish.
Oyer is one of only five Mule players to earn multiple all-conference honors, and his career stroke average is the lowest in the program's history.
