Alison Meagher begins her third season "On The Banks” and was elevated to full-time status following the 2023 season helping Rutgers to back-to-back 30-win seasons and the Scarlet Knights' biggest successes since joining the Big Ten.
Since joining the staff, the Scarlet Knights have collected the most Big Ten victories and Big Ten series wins including the first-ever series wins over Ohio State, Wisconsin and Minnesota. RU also captured its highest Big Ten Tournament seed entering the 2024 post-season as the number three seed.
Meagher served as a volunteer assistant during the 2023 season and in her first season with the Scarlet Knights, Rutgers continued its rise on the field. With Meagher on staff, the Scarlet Knights returned to the Big Ten Tournament, picked up its first 30-win season since 1994, played to its best start since 1980 and captured a top 25 victory for the first time since 2012. Meagher arrived at Rutgers after three seasons as an assistant coach with the New York University softball team where she worked with the outfielders and hitters along with responsibilities with recruiting and academics. During her time on the Violets staff, 18 players were named University Athletic Association (UAA) Spring Sports All-Academic Honorees and five student-athletes were named All-UAA.
In addition to her collegiate coaching involvement, Meagher has worked with youth programs throughout New Jersey. She was named the Union County Coach of the Year by
NJ.com after guiding Benedictine Academy High School to its first-ever state section title. Additionally, she has also served as head coach for the travel organization Untamed Softball.
The Clark, New Jersey native is a 2019 graduate of the College of Staten Island with a degree in psychology and was a three-year member of the Dolphins’ softball team earning First Team All-CUNY Conference honors as a junior and senior. As a senior, she served as captain and was named the team’s Pitcher of the Year. Meagher also spent one season at Rider University.
