Meaghan Wells joined Rutgers Athletics in August 2021 and currently serves as equipment manager. In her role, Wells oversees all equipment operations for softball, field hockey, men's golf and women's golf. She has been certified by the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) since 2022.
Wells continues a family legacy, with her dad, Gene, having worked as an equipment manager at Rutgers for 35 years working primarily with men's basketball, men's soccer and track. This allowed Meaghan to grow up around Rutgers Athletics, spending time around the teams and working as a ball girl and men's and women's basketball games. Additionally, Gene ran track and Rutgers and still owns a top-10 time in the 800-meter. Her older brother, Brian, ran cross country and track at Rutgers as well.
A Piscataway native, Wells was four-year letterwinner on the softball team at Rutgers from 2015-18, playing in 123 games and making 98 starts. She was named to the 2018 Big Ten All-Defensive Team at third base, playing in 39 games and posting a perfect fielding percentage with 44 putouts, 63 assists and no errors on the season. She was also a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a 2016 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
