William Abrams is entering his fifth full season with Rutgers and now serves as the director of player development. He joined the staff in January of 2017 as a recruiting assistant after serving as an assistant coach with the Felician University Men’s Basketball team.

Abrams primary responsibilities with the Scarlet Knights include coordinating the community outreach program, managing male practice squad and walk-ons, serving as the academic liaison, and assisting in scouting and game preparation. Abrams previously worked as a recruiting assistant for Rutgers women's basketball.

Before his time at Felician, Abrams spent two years as an assistant coach at Utica College. He assisted head coach Chris Connolly in all facets of the program including day-to-day operations, scouting, recruiting, as well as game and practice preparation.

Abrams helped guide three of the Pioneers’ seniors into the all-time record books. Abrams also proved himself on the recruiting trail, recruiting the Empire 8’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

On the court, Abrams was a two-year team captain and competed in 95 career games as a Pioneer.  He finished his senior year averaging 12.8 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. His 12.8 points per game were second while his rebounds were good enough for third on the squad. Abrams finished his career with 681 points and 270 rebounds. Abrams currently ranks eighth all-time in 3-point field goals made.

Abrams graduated from Utica College in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and was also a four-year member of the UC men’s basketball.  He was a recipient of the Trey Whitfield Scholarship Award in 2008.

Originally from Somerset, N.J., Abrams attended nearby Rutgers Preparatory School where he graduated from in 2007.
