Ali Hoesly, a Class of 2016 Rutgers graduate, Summit, New Jersey native and former head student manager for the Rutgers women's basketball team, begins her second campaign as Director of Basketball Operations for the Scarlet Knight program. Hoesly returned to her alma mater in the summer of 2022, joining Coquese Washington’s staff during Washington’s inaugural season. Â
In her current role, Hoesley assists Coach Washington in the day-to-day operations of the program in all aspects including recruiting, team travel, game day organization and practice operations. She facilitates strategic community engagement opportunities for Rutgers student-athletes, coaches and staff that align with and support the program’s marketing efforts. She helps leverage these outreach events and experiences, creating a strong, positive presence in the local community.Â
Hoesley also leads multiple game day operations efforts including the day’s schedule, managing shootarounds for both home and away teams and coordinating the timing sheet. She also works in very close conjunction with multiple Rutgers departments such as equipment, facilities, marketing, alumni relations, sports information and career advancement. In addition, Hoesly runs the Rutgers Girls Basketball Camp in collaboration with Chief of Staff, Stephen Fishler. Â
Hoesly was the head student manager for the women's basketball program at Rutgers from 2014-2016 for Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame coach C. Vivian Stringer. She regulated daily team operations for the director of basketball operations, coaching staff and players while supervising and recruiting student managers and practice players for each season. Her duties also included organizing logistics of travel, game day assignments, official recruiting visits and summer camp. Her efforts earned her the distinction of being named the program's "Manager of the Year" in 2014-15.Â
During that same 2014-15 campaign, Hoesly saw the program reach the NCAA Tournament second round and then participate in the WNIT to end the 2015-2016 slate. During her undergraduate career at Rutgers, expanded her knowledge base by working as an operations intern for the WNBA's Washington Mystics from May to September of 2015.Â
Since graduating from Rutgers, Hoesly has embarked on a career in basketball operations.Â
Most recently, Hoesly completed a four-year stint as the director of operations with Pittsburgh women's basketball, where she oversaw day-to-day operations of the program, including logistics of team practices, meals and meetings. She was responsible for team travel while also supervising the Pitt student-manager team.Â
Â
Prior to Pittsburgh, Hoesly spent two seasons at Florida State. At FSU, Hoesly’s teams reached the NCAA Tournament Elite 8 in the 2016-2017 season and the second round of the tournament during the 2017-2018 season.Â
Hoesly served as executive assistant to the head coach and director of recruiting operations for Seminoles head coach Sue Semrau in 2017-18, after working in the role of assistant director of basketball operations from 2016-17. Under Hoesly’s direction, Florida State signed the No. 4 recruiting class in the nation (No. 1 in the ACC) for 2018.Â
Hoesly earned her bachelor's degree from Rutgers in 2016 in exercise science and sports studies and a minor in criminology.Â
