Kara Wilson joined the Rutgers women's basketball program as the program's Director of Scouting and Technology in 2022. She enters her second season with the team for the 2023-24 season.
In this role, Wilson oversees all internal IT needs, filming of all practices and games as well as managing the video library and software. In addition, she aids the coaching staff in all aspects of in-season scouting and prepares all online scouting reports.
Wilson also leads the scout team, also known as the “The White Knights,” and trains the video managers as well as running walk-on tryouts.
Wilson arrives "On the Banks" following a playing career at the NCAA Division I and Division II levels, and a stint as an assistant coach at Earlham College in 2021-22.
Wilson played at Division II Wayne State University in Michigan during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, where the forward tallied 148 points and 98 rebounds over 49 games in two seasons with the Warriors. During her senior campaign, Wilson was named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
Prior to joining Wayne State women's basketball, Wilson played a season for current Rutgers assistant coach Tasha Pointer at Division I Illinois-Chicago, where she served as a representative on the Horizon League Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during the 2018-19 academic year.
Wilson is a May 2021 graduate of Wayne State with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with an emphasis in global supply chain management. A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a graduate of Huron High School, Wilson has worked with Ann Arbor Rec & Ed, a program of the Ann Arbor Public Schools system, since 2015.
Away from basketball, Wilson is an entrepreneur previously operating her own firm: Sneaker Expressions, LLC, a custom shoe design business she has operated since 2018. She also runs and operates “Oh Boy, Boils!”, a company that manufactures a spice mix that can be made into a seafood boil sauce.
Wilson is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at Rutgers in Global Sports Business.
