Brittney Harris

Brittney Harris is in her second season as Director of Operations at Rutgers. A native of Easton, Pennsylvania, Harris spent the previous two seasons on the coaching staff at Michigan State.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brittney to the staff,” head coach Umme Salim-Beasley said. “We didn’t expect to have a collegiate coach interested in our director of operations position, but Brittney also had a tremendous amount of experience in operations from her time at Michigan State. She was the strongest candidate and came in with new ideas to help move this program forward. We are excited to have her come in and refresh what goes on behind the scenes.”

“I'm honored and excited to be part of the Rutgers gymnastics program as their director of operations,” Harris said. “I would like to thank Umme Salim-Beasley and Rutgers Athletics for giving me this opportunity. I'm confident my knowledge and experience will help the team succeed. I look forward to serving and becoming a part of the Rutgers family.”

With Harris on staff, the Spartans sent five individuals to NCAA Regionals the past two seasons. The team also saw two earn All-Big Ten honors in 2019 and one in 2018. Harris also played a key role in the office with program organization behind the scenes.

Before to arriving in East Lansing, Harris spent one season coaching at her hometown club, Parkettes National Gymnastics Training Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the same club that she competed for prior to competing as a standout gymnast at Pittsburgh. She earned East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Team MVP honors for the Panthers in 2014, in addition to earning First Team All-EAGL honors and First Team All-Tournament accolades on the way to qualifying for the NCAA Regionals as an all-arounder. She finished her gymnastics career at West Virginia in 2015 as a fifth-year senior.

At Parkettes, Harris coached Level 10 and Level 8 competitive team members on all four events, while assisting with the Elite groups, as well as creating and implementing Level 10 conditioning programs. She also attended the Forster and Resnick Uneven Bar Boot Camp Clinic and the Junior Olympic National Training Camp at the National Team Training Center in Texas. She also has club coaching experience with All-Star Athletics and Gymnastics in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in addition to Aerial Port Gymnastics Training Center in Fairmont, West Virginia.

Harris earned her bachelor's degree in arts, media and professional communications from Pittsburgh in 2014 and her master's degree in athletic coaching education from West Virginia in 2016.
