Charlie Dragon begins his first season as a volunteer assistant with the program. Prior to joing the Scarlet Knights, Dragon was the Head Age Group Coach at Peddie Aquatics in New Jersey for the past four years. There, he directly coached 64 swimmers ages 11-14 and oversaw the development of the 7-8 and 9-10 age groups. His swimmers set 29 individual team records, 27 relay records, one state relay record while two swimmers made national Top-10 rankings.
Prior to his stint with Peddie Aquatics, Dragon spent three years with SwimMAC Carolina. During his time at SwimMAC, Dragon was in charge of two groups and assisted head coach David Marsh with the Team Elite post graduate professional group. Dragon has worked with swimmers from summer league to the Olympic level, including Mark Gangloff, a two-time Olympic breaststroker.
Dragon began his coaching career at Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA as a senior coach. During that time, he coached multiple swimmers to top-10 finishes in USA Swimming's Top-16 Age Group Rankings
Active in the world of swimming beyond the pool deck, Dragon has published 10 articles for the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) and presented a talk at the 2009 ASCA World Clinic. He is certified to teach the ASCA Level 2 stroke school.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Rutgers University and and his M.A. in Philosophy from the CUNY Graduate Center.
