Alexander Officer begins his first season with Rutgers football as a graduate assistant in 2023.

Over the summer, Officer was one of six coaches from across the country selected by the Chicago Bears to partake in the NFL’s Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship. The program’s objective is to use NFL clubs’ training camps to give coaches and scouts opportunities to observe, participate, gain experience and ultimately gain a full-time NFL coaching position.

Officer spent the past three seasons (2020-22) as a graduate assistant at Pittsburgh, working with the Panthers’ offensive line. In 2021, Pitt went 11-3 and captured the ACC championship over Wake Forest, finishing the season with a school-record 41.4 points and 486.6 yards per game with Officer on staff.

A four-year starter on Pitt’s offensive line, Officer played in 51 career games for the Panthers from 2014-17, making 48 starts. Officer was selected to play in the 2018 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and played both center and guard during his collegiate career.

A native of Rochester, New York, Officer earned his bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Pittsburgh in 2017.
