Becky Bonaventura joined the Rutgers Athletics staff in August 2019 and currently serves as an Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning. In this role, she directs year-round athletic development for women's tennis (2019-present), women's swimming & diving (2023-present), and men's and women's jumps and vaults (2023-present), while also overseeing two Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coaches and managing the finances and facility maintenance for the strength and conditioning department.
Bonaventura began her Rutgers tenure as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach in August 2019. During her time with the department, she has also served as the Strength & Conditioning Internship Director and worked with three additional programs: women's rowing (2019-2021), women's golf (2019-2022), and women's volleyball (2021-2022).
Prior to Rutgers, Bonaventura was a strength and conditioning volunteer at Princeton University, assisting with baseball, women's lacrosse, men's and women's water polo, men's and women's golf, and field hockey. During that same period, she also served as Director of Sports Performance for Williams Sport Training (WST), where she designed and ran strength and speed training sessions for groups, club teams (PDA, GPS), and individuals ranging from ages 5 to 65.
Before her time with WST, Bonaventura was a graduate assistant sports performance coach at St. John's University (2016-2018), where she designed and implemented year-round strength and conditioning programs for women's tennis, baseball, men's and women's golf, and women's track, while also assisting with men's basketball, men's and women's soccer, and men's lacrosse.
Bonaventura is Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). She began her athletic career as a member of the Waynesburg University women's soccer team (2011-2015), serving as co-captain her senior year.
