Jason Phu joined the Rutgers Athletics Department in 2026 and serves as a Sports Physical Therapy Fellow.Â
In his role, Phu provides sports physical therapy and rehabilitation services, including injury evaluation and treatment, post-operative and non-operative rehabilitation, return-to-sport progression, and performance-based testing while collaborating with athletic trainers, team physicians, strength and conditioning coaches and other members of the sports performance team to support student-athlete health, recovery and performance.
Prior to arriving at Rutgers, Phu was a Sports Physical Therapist at the University of Cincinnati.
A native of Fords, New Jersey, Phu graduated from Rutgers with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Florida. While an undergraduate "On The Banks", he worked as an athletic training intern with Rutgers Athletics and served as a Sports Science Intern while working towards his doctorate at Florida.
