Kathryn Hartwig has been involved in cheerleading for over a decade, starting in high school and continuing through college and now into coaching. She was a member of the Rutgers University Division 1A Cheerleading Team from 2017 to 2023. During her time on the team, she served as captain during her senior year, helping lead and support her teammates through the unique challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. She also made history with her partner by becoming the first couple from Rutgers to compete at NCA partner stunt in Daytona Beach, Florida. Throughout the years, she was honored to receive various team and leadership awards, but the one she is most proud of is being named MVP three years in a row.
Academically, Katie earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology and Master of Business and Science degrees from Rutgers University. She has always believed in balancing athletic commitment with academic achievement, which shaped her well-rounded experience as a student-athlete.
Since graduating, she has continued her involvement in cheerleading through coaching and is currently in her third year. She finds great joy in helping young cheerleaders grow in skill, confidence, and leadership, just as she did during her own time in the sport.
Professionally, Katie works at TD Bank as a Business Systems Analyst, where she applies her skills in problem-solving, communication, and collaboration to support key projects. Whether on the mat or in the office, she brings focus, drive, and a team-first mentality to everything she does.
Being part of the Rutgers Cheerleading program has been one of the most meaningful parts of her journey. It gave her a sense of community, resilience, and lifelong friendships and she’s excited to continue giving back to the sport and program that helped shape her.
