In January 2023, Mike Greengarten joined the major gift team as Assistant Director of Development, Major Gifts. Prior to joining the major gift team, Mike was the Assistant Director of Development for Communications and Engagement in February of 2019. In this role, the 2014 Rutgers grad served his alma mater by running the development department's website and social media operations, as well as implementing and executing all communications efforts between Rutgers and the Scarlet Knights' supporters.
Greengarten previously served as Director of Marketing & Fan Experience with Rutgers until 2019. Greengarten spent the previous two years as Assistant Director of Marketing & Promotions after he arrived at the University in August of 2015. In his role, Greengarten served as the marketing contact for the men's basketball program, field hockey, rowing, women's golf and tennis.
Greengarten constructed a marketing plan for home football games and coordinated football on-field productions. He also devised the promotional calendars for the home basketball schedule, including giveaways and halftime performances. Greengarten oversaw the marketing internship program, where he interviewed, hired and trained over 20 interns.
Prior to joining the Rutgers marketing department, Greengarten spent a year with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference as an Administrative Compliance Fellow.
Greengarten is a 2014 graduate of Rutgers. While an undergraduate, he worked for the department in a variety of roles, including as a branding and social media intern, ticket operations assistant and football operations assistant. He also completed internships with Princeton men’s basketball, Bates College, the Rockland Boulders and IMG.
Greengarten spent one year at Thomas College in Maine, where he played soccer. The Hillsdale, N.J. native is a graduate of Pascack Valley High School, and completed a graduate degree at Rutgers in Global Sports Business in August of 2018. He is the son of Jay Greengarten and Bonnie McHugh, as well as the stepson of former TCNJ, Bates College, and Stockton University Athletic Director, Kevin McHugh.
