Nick French begins his first season as a member of Kristen Butler's staff in July of 2025.
French arrives “On The Banks” with over 18 years of experience across the SEC, CAA, Patriot, Conference USA, America East and Pac-12 conferences along with five seasons as a Division I head coach and NCAA Tournament appearances with Arizona and Memphis. Most recently, he was on staff as an assistant at Towson, where he worked with the Tiger pitching staff during the 2025 season. He was also a member of the Towson staff as an assistant in 2017.
French’s other stops include spending the 2024 season as Director of Player Development at Georgia, leading Bryant University as the head coach from 2019-23, as well as stints with Arizona, Memphis, Holy Cross, Simmons (Mass.) College, and Piedmont (Pa.) College.
While with the national runner-up Diamondbacks in 2010, French served as the volunteer assistant coach and oversaw the daily operations of the team.
French also worked with the pitching staff for four seasons at Holy Cross, which included Gennifer Durham throwing the first-perfect game in school history and only the second in Patriot League history in 2013.
As an assistant coach at Memphis, French was in the dugout for the program’s first NCAA Regional berth in program history. The Tigers also achieved a school record 10-game win streak in 2011.
A 2005 graduate of Emerson College with a degree in journalism, French also worked with the softball program as an undergraduate.
