Martin Collects 3000m Title at Texas Tech Invite

Scarlet Knights Log Nine Additional Top Eight Performances
LUBBOCK, Texas – Freshman Olympia Martin secured the 3000m title and the Scarlet Knights captured an additional nine top eight performances at the Texas Tech Invitational on Friday afternoon.
Martin, a freshman from Ridgewood, New Jersey clocked in at 10:03.36 to win the crown. She was joined by two sophomore Scarlet Knights in the top eight – Nadia Saponara in third place in 10:25.87 and Stephanie Mauer in seventh in 10:49.99.
Junior transfer Oniesha Clarke, who last week posted the third best Scarlet Knight time in the 60m, was just outside the finals field in the event on Friday, but made her long jump debut. Her leap of 5.78m was an ECAC qualifying distance that landed her in third place.
Also in the jumps, fifth-year senior Bryanna Grant, the Rutgers record holder, made her return to the runway in the triple jump. Grant placed third as well reaching an ECAC qualifying distance of 12.18m.
Additionally, freshman Courteney Campbell, last week's Towson Tiger Invitational champion in the long jump, took sixth in the event as she cleared the bar at a height of 1.68m.
Rutgers entries took fourth in both the 600m and 800m. Fifth-year senior Sarah Robbie logged a fourth place finish in the 600m in 1:25.70, while senior Brianna Haspel finished in the same position in the 800m in 2:18.56.
Senior Alexandra Juzwiak raced to a time of 5:12.18 to place fifth in the mile.
The 4x400m relay team consisting of freshman Dakota Gerges, senior Bria Saunders, redshirt junior Arianne Strunkey and junior Phyllis Gordon on anchor claimed fifth in a time of 3:52.83.
The Rutgers women's indoor track & field team will spilt the squad next weekend as the Scarlet Knights compete at the NY Armory Invitational and Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University.
