New Traffic Pattern for Saturday’s Basketball Game Versus Purdue

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – A new traffic pattern will be implemented for Saturday's 4 p.m. men's basketball game versus No. 3-ranked Purdue at the Rutgers Athletic Center. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the sold out match-up, as increased traffic volume, combined with the closure of Scarlet Lot due to the construction of the RWJBarnabas Health Athletic Performance Center, may delay ingress and egress.
  • Traffic turning onto Hospital Road from Ave E will be directed to create two lanes, with those having Green Lot, VIP and Handicapped Access assigned to the right lane. Those with Yellow, or purchasing gameday parking, will be directed to the left lane.
  • Hospital Road will be closed at Suttons Lane, with signage directing visitors to Rockafeller Road, where Country Club Parking will be assigned.
  • After the game, Hospital Road will be split, as exiting traffic will be sent toward Ave. E and Suttons Lane. Traffic exiting from the Yellow Lot to Rockafeller Road will be permitted to go left or right.
A women's gymnastics meet will also take place Saturday on the Livingston Campus. The sold-out event begins at 7 p.m. inside the Livingston Recreation Center.

Saturday's men's basketball contest marks the second home sellout this season for the Scarlet Knights, after drawing 8,318 fans to the RAC on Dec. 16 to witness the 71-65 defeat of No. 15 Seton Hall in the annual Garden State Hardwood Classic. It signals the first time Rutgers men's basketball has enjoyed multiple home sell-outs in the same campaign since 2011. This season's crowd versus the Pirates was the largest at the RAC in 15 years.

Rutgers students can still acquire tickets to Saturday's game by clicking here. Tickets are going fast, so students are strongly encouraged to enter their claim in order to guarantee a seat.

In addition to the hardwood action, there are multiple promotions surrounding the Big Ten Conference match-up. As part of the "Jersey Series," fans will help settle the long-standing Garden State debate between Taylor Ham® versus Pork Roll, and will receive a complimentary winter hat stating their allegiance. One lucky Rutgers student will have the opportunity to win $10,000 by making a half-court shot during a second half media timeout and all RU students will benefit from direct weekend shuttles. Saturday also marks both Educator Appreciation Day and Outstanding Student Day at the RAC.

Doors to the arena will open around one hour prior to the game at 3 p.m. The contest versus the Boilermakers will be televised live nationally on BTN.

Single game tickets for the other three remaining men's basketball home games are available online or by calling the Rutgers Ticket Office at 1-866-445-GORU.
