Oct 09 | Women's Soccer
Lloyd, who also was named the BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, scored both game-winning goals in a pair of must-win situations for the Scarlet Knights last week. The all-American midfielder, who has been bothered by a left-foot injury, came off the bench with 7:20 to play in regulation and scored with 3:04 to play in overtime in RU's 1-0 victory against Seton Hall Oct. 2. Against Georgetown Oct. 5, Lloyd scored 1:13 after she substituted into the match to even the score, then converted a penalty kick in the 47th minute to lead RU to a 4-2 win. Just 12 matches into her sophomore season, Lloyd now is tied for fifth in game-winning goals (seven), tied for sixth in goals (23) and seventh in points (57) on the Rutgers career charts.
Last year, Lloyd twice was named to the Soccer America and Soccerbuzz teams of the week (Oct. 8, Nov. 5). The 2002 BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, she also was named to the Soccerbuzz 2002 Preseason All-America Elite 12 Team.
The Scarlet Knights (7-4-2) will host No. 8 Connecticut Friday, Oct. 11, at 7:00 p.m. in a BIG EAST cross-divisional match.
