Sep 16 | Women's Soccer
Lloyd, a midfielder, collected two goals and two assists in Rutgers’ pair of 3-0 victories this past weekend against Boston University (Sept. 13) and Old Dominion (Sept. 15). For her efforts, she was named the Rutgers DoubleTree Classic Most Valuable Player.
Lloyd shared the honor with Georgetown’s Jessie Beers-Altman. She leads the Scarlet Knights with 13 points (five goals, three assists), already moving into a tie for seventh in career goals (20) and a tie for eighth in both career points (50) and game-winning goals (five) on the RU record charts.
It is the first weekly conference honor for a Scarlet Knights this season. Last year, Lloyd twice was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week (Sept. 3, Oct. 8), and current senior Christine Caldwell (Wyckoff, NJ) was named the league’s Goalkeeper of the Week once (Oct. 22).
The 2002 BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Lloyd was named to the Soccerbuzz 2002 Preseason All-America Elite 12 Team.
The Scarlet Knights (4-1-1) will begin BIG EAST Mid-Atlantic Division play this weekend when Rutgers plays at No. 11 Notre Dame Friday, Sept. 20, and at Pittsburgh Sunday, Sept. 22.
