PISCATAWAY, NJ - Jim Carr has been named Director of
Men's Basketball Operations at Rutgers University, it was announced today
by Scarlet Knight head coach Gary Waters.
Carr begins his second stint at Rutgers, after spending two years as an assistant
coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Carr, who had previously served in
the capacity of Director of Men's Basketball Operations at Rutgers from
1997-2000, has a background that includes 13 years of coaching and recruiting
experience at the high school and collegiate level.
As the Director of Operations, Carr will be charged with performing a variety
of functions within the Scarlet Knight basketball program. His many duties will
include coordinating the marketing and administration of all summer basketball
camps, and serving as the director of The Gary Waters Basketball Camp. He will
also interact with the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics Administration
in areas such as team travel, facility scheduling for practice and competition,
team and office equipment requirements, team banquets, social functions and
fund-raising events.

brings an unmatched work ethic, is extremely well-respected within the profession,
and will be a tremendous asset to our program. Jim has important ties in this
area and was very well thought of by the Rutgers athletic administration in
his previous tenure at Rutgers. I am excited that we have been able to add Jim
Carr to our basketball staff."
From 1992-96, Carr was the Associate Director/Recruiting Coordinator for The
Hoop Group, the nation's largest basketball camp organization. While with
The Hoop Group, the 1991 York College graduate served as the overall recruiting
coordinator for all camps and clinics including the nationally ranked Eastern
Invitational.
A native of Shawnee, Pa., Carr began his coaching career as the athletic director/head
basketball coach at the York (Pa.) Country Day school. At the time of his hiring
in 1989, Carr was one of the youngest A.D./Head Coach in the country. Carr has
served as an assistant at Kings (Pa.) College, Stroudsburg High School and as
the Assistant Director for the Invitational Basketball Camps in Stroudsburg,
Pa.
