RU Women's Soccer Ties Pittsburgh
Oct 12 | Women's Soccer
PITTSBURGH, PA - The Rutgers women's soccer team (7-4-4, 1-1-1 BIG EAST) could not find the back of the net as the Scarlet Knights played to a scoreless tie in double overtime at Pittsburgh (4-7-2, 1-1-1 BIG EAST) Oct. 12 at Founders Field.
"It wasn't a bad game, and I thought we played reasonably well," fourth-year head coach Glenn Crooks said. "Their keeper made a couple of nice plays, but we should have been able to finish off at least one of those shots."
Rutgers outshot Pittsburgh, 25-13, and out-cornered the Panthers, 6-3. Freshman Robyn Jones (Titusville, NJ) made two saves in the tie (5-4-4). The Scarlet Knights have gone to double overtime in six of their nine matches, a new RU record.
Rutgers was ranked tied for sixth by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and eighth by Soccerbuzz in the Mid-Atlantic Region this week (Oct. 6).
Rutgers will return home to face Villanova Wednesday, Oct. 15, in a BIG EAST Mid-Atlantic Division match at 7:00 p.m.
