Rutgers to Host BIG EAST Women's Soccer Championship

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers will serve as the host of the 2003 BIG EAST Conference Women’s Soccer Championship this weekend at Yurcak Field.
No. 2 Notre Dame (19-1-1, 6-0 BIG EAST), the Mid-Atlantic Division’s top seed, will face No. 20 Boston College (14-2-2, 3-2-1 BIG EAST), the second seed from the Northeast Division, in the first semifinal Friday, Nov. 7, at 5:00 p.m. Eleventh-ranked West Virginia (15-3-1, 4-1-1 BIG EAST), the Mid-Atlantic’s second seed, will play fourth-seeded Villanova (14-5-1, 3-2-1 BIG EAST) in the second semifinal at 7:00 p.m. The two semifinal winners will square off in the final Sunday, Nov. 9, at 12:00 p.m.
Both semifinal games will be broadcast next day tape-delayed on Saturday, Nov. 8, on College Sports Television. CSTV will air Notre Dame-Boston College at 5:00 p.m. and West Virginia-Villanova at 7:00 p.m. Sunday’s BIG EAST Championship final will be televised live by the Madison Square Garden Network and Fox Sports Net Florida. The following networks will carry the game on a tape-delayed basis: Fox Sports Net New England (Nov. 9, 12:30 p.m.), Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh (Nov. 9, 1:00 p.m.), Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia (Nov. 9, 1:00 p.m.), Fox Sports Net Chicago (Nov. 9, 4:00 p.m.) and Comcast SportsNet Washington (Nov. 9, 4:00 p.m.). All times listed are Eastern.
The Rutgers women’s soccer team (10-6-4, 3-2-1 BIG EAST) fell 2-1 in the BIG EAST Tournament quarterfinals Nov. 2 at Boston College. The Scarlet Knights now await the announcement of the 64-team field for the 2003 NCAA Tournament, which will be released Monday, Nov. 10.
