PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers volleyball team (13-6,
  1-2 BIG EAST) defeated Manhattan (4-18) 3-1 (30- 20, 30-24, 29-31 and 30-26)
  on Sunday, Oct. 17, in Riverdale, NY.
The Scarlet Knights stormed out to an early 2-0 due in large part to the play
  of junior Ashleigh Young (Albany, OR), who recorded five kills in the first
  game. Young was also a dominant force on the defensive front registering a
  match-high six block assists.
For the eleventh time this season, sophomore Lora Yankauskas (Paramus, NJ)
  led RU with a match-high 14 kills, while seniors Dawn Christjaener (Huntington
  Beach, CA) and Stephanie Travioli (Arlington, TX) tallied 13 and 12 kills,
  respectively. Senior Abbey Martin (Topeka, KS) and sophomore Tamarie Macon
  (Fayetteville, NC) combined for 46 of the team’s 56 assists. Martin led
  the way with 30 assists while Macon added 16 assists of her own.
RU’s defense was solid with four Scarlet Knights recording double-digit
  digs. Junior Courtney Stout (San Marcos, CA) led the way with 14 digs, followed
  by Travioli with 13 digs, Christjaener with 11 and Martin with 10.
Rutgers will return to action for the second match of its four-match road
  streak against Boston College on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7:00 p.m.
