CHESTNUTHILL, MA - The Rutgers volleyball team (13-7, 1-3
BIG EAST) battled back from a 2-1 deficit to force a deciding fifth game, but
Boston College (17-7, 3-0 BIG EAST) took the final game, 15-9, to earn a hard-fought
3-2 (21-30, 30-27, 24-30, 30-25 and 9-15) decision on Friday, Oct. 22.
Leading the way for RU was sophomore Lora Yankauskas (Paramus, NJ), who recorded
a team-high 20 kills, while seniors Dawn Christjaener (Huntington Beach, CA)
and Stephanie Travioli (Arlington, TX) registered 14 and 13 kills, respectively.
Senior Abbey Martin (Topeka, KS) added 55 assists and nine digs.
Defensively, junior Courtney Stout (San Marcos, CA) led the team with 18 digs,
followed by Christjaener with 15 digs.
The Scarlet Knights return to action on Sunday, Oct. 24, when they will take
on the Connecticut Huskies at 2:00 p.m.
