NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Rutgers volleyball team (15-9, 3-5 BIG EAST) won its final home match of the season, defeating West Virginia (18-11, 4-4 BIG EAST) 3-0 (30-19, 30-28 and 30-20) on Sunday, Nov. 7.
Prior to the match, Rutgers honored its five seniors - Casey Castillo (Honolulu, HI), Dawn Christjaener (Huntington Beach, CA), Abbey Martin (Topeka, KS), Addie Thiry (Louisville, KY) and Stephanie Travioli (Arlington, TX).
Sophomore Lora Yankauskas (Paramus, NJ) led the way on offense with a match-high 16 kills, followed by Christjaener with 10. Martin once again led RU with a match-high 38 assists.
The defensive play of the Scarlet Knights was outstanding as they tallied 22 team blocks and held the Mountaineers to a .037 hitting percentage for the match. Thiry led RU's defensive surge with nine block assists, while Yankauskas added five. Christjaener had a team-high 16 digs and Castillo (Honolulu, HI) registered 10.
For West Virginia, Stephanie Zolna notched 14 kills and Aurora Ebert-Santos recorded 10 digs.
This win marked the 350th career victory for head coach Ann Leonard-House. 
The Scarlet Knights return to action on Friday, Nov. 12, when they will take on the Georgetown Hoyas at 8:00 p.m.
