Rutgers Women's Soccer Team Loses at Connecticut
Sep 25 | Women's Soccer
STORRS, CT – The Rutgers women’s soccer team (4-5, 0-2 BIG EAST) lost 2-0 at Connecticut (5-4, 2-1 BIG EAST) in BIG EAST Conference action Sept. 25 in Storrs, CT.
Kristen Graczyk, the 2003 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, scored both goals for the Huskies, the first coming in the 16th minute and the second in the 77th minute.
“We were in the game and had chances to score,” said fifth-year head coach Glenn Crooks. “Tara (Froehlich) hit the crossbar and Danae Risoli and Tara had another great opportunity in the first half. We had strong opportunities to score, but opportunities don’t equal goals sometimes.”
Sophomore Robyn Jones (Titusville, NJ) made three saves in goal for the Scarlet Knights (4-5).
Rutgers received votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), Soccebuzz and SoccerTimes.com in this week’s top 25 polls (Sept. 21). The Scarlet Knights were picked fifth by the NSCAA and sixth by Soccerbuzz in this week’s Mid-Atlantic Region Polls. Connecticut was picked third by Soccerbuzz in the Northeast Region Poll.
Rutgers will return to Piscataway to host Monmouth Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 7:00 p.m.
