PISCATAWAY, NJ - For the second consecutive week, Rutgers' Nora Crawford (McLean, VA) has been named the BIG EAST Conference Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, while Meghan Ryan (Crofton, MD) has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Oct. 24.
Crawford, a redshirt junior, posted a pair of must-win shutout victories last weekend as the Scarlet Knights wrapped up a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament. In the 1-0 win at Cincinnati Oct. 21, Crawford came up with three saves, while in the 3-0 triumph in the regular-season finale at Louisville Oct. 23, she made four stops. Crawford was previously named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week Oct. 17.
Ryan, a redshirt sophomore back, helped organize a Rutgers defense that allowed only seven shots on goal in last weekend's two shutout victories. The leader of the back four, Ryan has helped the Scarlet Knights win five straight matches, including shutout victories in each of their last four outings.
They join fellow Scarlet Knights Kristen Edmonds (Metuchen, NJ), who was named the Rookie of the Week Aug. 29 and earned a spot on the Honor Roll Oct. 3, and Alicia Hall (Port Republic, NJ), the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week Oct. 17, as conference honorees this season.
Rutgers (9-9-1, 5-6 BIG EAST), the fourth seed in Division B, will host Division A's fifth seed, Pittsburgh, in the BIG EAST Tournament first round. The match will be held in Piscataway either Wednesday, Oct. 26, or Thursday, Oct. 27
