HANOVER, NH – Anela Dujsic (Mississauga, Ontario) and Dana Gordon (Margate, NJ) advanced to the finals of the Flight A doubles bracket to lead the Rutgers women’s tennis team at the Dartmouth Invitational, its final tournament of the fall season.
The event was held at the Allie Boss Tennis Center and Alan Gordon Pavilion on the campus of Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. The event consisted of two 32-player singles flights and one 32-team doubles flight.
Elder-Bush and Gordon won four matches to reach the finals before eventually falling to Sonia Ruzimovsky and Angela DiPastina of Ohio State, 8-6. Also in Flight A doubles, Jill Markowitz (Forest Hills, NY) and Katrina Elder-Bush (Boston, MA) advanced to the round of 16.
In the singles draw, Elder-Bush and Gordon each won two matches to advance to the quarterfinals. Gordon concluded her fall season with just two singles loss, while Elder-Bush became the first female tennis player from RU to advance to the Round of 32 at the ITA Regionals.
“We clearly had a significant presence at this tournament, which says a lot when you consider which other teams were there,” said head coach Ben Bucca. “It was great to see us play our best tennis of the fall, and my hope is that it carries over into the spring season when we get going again in January.”
Rutgers’ 2006 spring schedule opens on Saturday, Feb. 4 with a match against Princeton at 1:00 p.m.
