Avner, Edmonds Earn Soccerbuzz Honors

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Rutgers senior midfielder Zoe Avner (Paris, France) has been named to the Soccerbuzz Mid-Atlantic Region All-Second Team, while midfielder/forward Kristen Edmonds (Metuchen, NJ) has been named to the region's All-Freshman Team, the group has announced.
Avner started all 63 matches during her three seasons “On the Banks”, contributing 15 career points (5 g, 5 a). A member of the 2005 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team and All-BIG EAST Third Team, she scored five penalty kick goals this season, adding an assist to rank third in scoring for the Scarlet Knights. A third-team all-BIG EAST selection as a junior in 2004, Avner was named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star in 2004. She also was named to this season's ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 Second Team.
Edmonds led the Scarlet Knights with 18 points (6 g, 6 a), starting 15 of the 19 matches she appeared in as a rookie. She was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week and earned a spot on the Soccer America National Team of the Week Aug. 29 after contributing three goals and two assists in her first two collegiate matches.
The Scarlet Knights, 10-9-2 overall and 5-6 in BIG EAST play, advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2005 BIG EAST Tournament.
