PISCATAWAY, NJ - Three members of the Rutgers women's soccer program, recently-hired assistant coach Karina LeBlanc, junior Domenique Esposito (Rivervale, NJ) and freshman Kristen Edmonds (Metuchen, NJ), helped lead the New Jersey Wildcats to the W-League championship Aug. 7.
LeBlanc played 901 of the team's 1260 minutes in goal this season, posting a 0.99 goals-against average and six shutouts. A member of the All-League Team, she registered a 3-0 shutout of Ottawa in the championship match, earning a spot on the W-League's All-Tournament Team.
Esposito, a midfielder/forward, played in seven matches for the Wildcats this summer and scored four goals. Edmonds, also a midfielder/forward, made four appearances and registered five points (2 g, 1 a).
Rutgers finished the 2004 season with a 9-10-1 mark overall and a 4-5-1 record in conference play, advancing to the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. The Scarlet Knights will begin the 2005 campaign with three consecutive home matches, starting with an Aug. 26 match-up against Temple at 7:00 p.m.
