LAS VEGAS, NV – The Rutgers University volleyball team (2-7) dropped its final two matches at the UNLV Classic in Las Vegas, NV, on Saturday, Sept. 10. The Scarlet Knights lost to tournament host UNLV by a score of 3-1 (20-30, 30-23, 16-30, 17-30) and Illinois 3-0 (18-30, 27-30, 23-30) on day two of competition.
In Rutgers’ first match of the day, junior Lora Yankauskas (Paramus, NJ) led with 11 kills, followed by sophomore Amanda Meyer (Naperville, IL) with 10. Freshman Roxy Calder (Vista, CA) posted a team-leading 38 assists, while junior Jocelyn Greenwald (Old Tappan, NJ) recorded a match-high 16 digs.
In the evening match against Illinois, Yankauskas once again led the Scarlet Knights with 14 kills on her way to earning a spot on the UNLV Classic All-Tournament team. Junior Justine Park (Reseda, CA) registered a match-high 13 digs and Calder tallied a team-high 28 assists.
The Scarlet Knights will return to action on Friday, Sept. 16 through Sunday, Sept. 18, when they host the Rutgers Embassy Suites Classic at the College Avenue Gymnasium.
