Rutgers Drops 3-1 Decision to South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. - The Rutgers volleyball team (5-14, 2-7 BIG EAST) fell to USF (11-10, 6-2 BIG EAST) 3-1 (25-30, 30-28, 20-30, 24-30) in BIG EAST Conference action on Sunday, Oct. 22, at The Corral in Tampa, Florida.
Leading the Rutgers attack was senior Lora Yankauskas (Paramus, N.J), who tied the match high with 20 kills. Yankauskas put together a balance effort as she also contributed on the defensive end, notching 16 digs and five total blocks (two solo, three assists).
Junior Amanda Meyer (Naperville, Ill.) recorded 10 kills, while also posting four block assists. Sophomore setter Roxy Calder (Oceanside, Calif.) orchestrated the Scarlet Knight offense with a team-high 42 assists and chipped in 13 digs, defensively.
Freshman Brittani Rendina (Lisle, Ill.) led RU with 24 digs, missing her season high by just one dig (25, against James Madison 8/26), while senior Tamarie Macon (Fayetteville, N.C.) added 13 defensive digs.
Rutgers will close out its regular-season home schedule with four straight matches at the College Avenue Gym, including three BIG EAST contests. The Scarlet Knights will take on Marquette on Friday, Oct. 27, at 7:00 p.m.
