Rutgers Volleyball Drops Regular-Season Finale to Connecticut

STORRS, Conn. - The Rutgers volleyball team (5-20, 2-12 BIG EAST) lost its final game of the 2006 regular-season to BIG EAST Conference opponent Connecticut (19-10, 8-6 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.

Freshman Stephanie Moore (Dallas, Texas) recorded 11 kills to lead RU's offensive effort. Moore played well defensively, adding five digs and two block assists. Junior Mallory McEnroe (Grand Rapids, Mich.) also chipped in a pair of block assists as well as four kills. Senior Tamarie Macon (Fayetteville, N.C.) contributed to the Scarlet Knights' offensive production with three kills, while sophomore Roxy Calder (Oceanside, Calif.) posted 18 assists.

Junior Amanda Meyer (Naperville, Ill.) led the Scarlet Knights with 11 digs, followed by freshman Brittani Rendina (Lisle, Ill.), who added to her already team-leading 304-dig total with 10 against the Huskies. Her 314 digs on the season are the ninth-best total in Rutgers' single-season history, topping former Scarlet Knight Dawn Christjaener's mark of 306 which was set during the 2004 season. Macon and Calder posted nine digs apiece, while senior Jocelyn Greenwald (Old Tappan, N.J.) recorded seven.
