Trio of Scarlet Knights Collect BIG EAST Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On Monday, Nov. 13, the BIG EAST Conference announced its weekly football award winners. Two Rutgers' players were honored for their performances in the Scarlet Knights' 28-25 upset victory over third-ranked Louisville on Nov. 9. Linebacker Devraun Thompson was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, while kicker Jeremy Ito received Special Teams Player of the Week accolades. In addition, sophomore tailback Ray Rice was named to the league's weekly honor roll for his efforts in the win over Louisville.
In Rutgers' 28-25 win over Louisville on Nov. 9, Thompson registered nine tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss. He also added two sacks, a forced fumble and an interception. His second sack came on the game's final play to seal the Scarlet Knight victory.
Ito kicked the game-winning 28-yard field goal with 13 seconds remaining to give Rutgers a 28-25 victory over Louisville. His 46-yard field goal earlier in the fourth quarter tied the game and made him the school's record holder for career field goals. Ito has made 48 field goals in his career.
Rice rumbled for 131 yards and scored two touchdowns in the win over the Cardinals.
