Three Scarlet Knights Earn BIG EAST Accolades

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers women's soccer players senior co-captain Kim Brand????o (Rahway, N.J.), sophomore Alicia Hall (Port Republic, N.J.) and freshman Gina DeMaio (Parsippany, N.J.) were named to the 2006 All-BIG EAST Second Team the conference announced at the Awards Banquet held tonight.
Brand????o, also an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection in 2003 and 2004, earned her third postseason honor of her career. In the 2006 campaign, Brand????o has scored two goals in addition to anchoring the Scarlet Knight defense. Rutgers has allowed only six goals this season and is ranked third in the country with a goals-against average of 0.303. Brand????o was named to the conference's weekly honor roll on Oct. 16.
Hall earned her first postseason honor as she leads the team in scoring with 15 points on seven goals and one assist. She has a team-high three game-winning goals and has been instrumental in the Scarlet Knights' success in the midfield.
DeMaio, who was ranked among the nation's top 50 recruits heading into the 2006 season, has tallied a team-high six assists. She is second on the team in points with 14, including four goals. DeMaio earned BIG EAST Rookie of the Week accolades for the period ending Oct. 2.
Rutgers will face-off against No. 8 West Virginia in the BIG EAST Championship semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3, at 7:00 p.m. at Morrone Stadium on the University of Connecticut campus in Storrs, Conn. The game will air in a delayed broadcast on ESPNU at 11:00 p.m.
