PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers women's soccer players freshmen Erin Guthrie (Sparta, N.J.) and Jenifer Anzivino (Middletown, N.J.) earned spots on the Top Drawer Soccer All-Rookie Team, while senior co-captain Kim Brandao (Rahway, N.J.) was named to the organization's first team.
Guthrie is ranked 19th nationally with a goals-against average of 0.56 and has 12 shutouts in her rookie campaign. She was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week twice this season and also earned Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Anzivino has five goals on the season, including three gamewinnners, and three assists as a rookie. On Oct. 16, Anzivino was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week and twice earned a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll during the year.
Brandao, who was named to the BIG EAST second-team for the third time in 2006, anchors a Scarlet Knight defense that has allowed just 12 goals this season and has held opponents to 0.55 goal per game. Rutgers is ranked 10th nationally with a team shutout percentage of 0.67. In her senior campaign, Brandao has scored two goals, one against Monmouth and the other against Princeton.
The Scarlet Knights will face Hartford in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m., at Yurcak Field, and will precede the 5:00 p.m. contest between Boston University and Boston College. The winners will meet on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2:00 p.m., at Yurcak Field.
