Gros Makes MLS All-Star Debut

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Former Rutgers midfielder Josh Gros made his Major League Soccer All-Star debut Saturday, August 5, against Chelsea FC. Gros and his MLS teammates defeated the two-time English Premier League Champion, 1-0, at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill.
Now in his third year with DC United, Gros started the game and played 90 minutes. Dwayne De Rosario of the Houston Dynamo scored the game-winning goal and was named the All-Star MVP. Played in front of a sellout crowd of 21,210, it was both the lowest-scoring game and the first shutout in MLS All-Star history.
In 21 starts this season, Gros has scored two goals and recorded five assists. His consistent play and impressive numbers earned him a spot on the MLS All-Star roster along with DC United teammates Freddy Adu, Bobby Boswell, Alecko Eskandarian, Christian Gomez, Jaime Moreno, and Troy Perkins. DC United currently sits in first place in the Eastern Standings with a 13-2-6 record.
After an outstanding collegiate career at Rutgers where he tallied 60 points, 22 goals, and 16 assists, Gros began his rookie season with DC United in 2004. He quickly went from a part-time player to a full-time starter, becoming the first DC United draft pick to log more than 2,000 minutes since the club's inaugural season. As a rookie, he was also a part of the DC United team that went on to become the 2004 MLS Cup Champions. In 2005, Gros scored two goals and added four assists and his goal against Columbus on May 7, 2005, won Goal of the Week Honors.
