NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ -The Rutgers University volleyball team (3-8, 0-1 BIG EAST) opened its BIG EAST slate at home against Notre Dame (7-5, 1-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Sept. 23, at the College Avenue Gymnasium.

The Scarlet Knights dropped a 3-0 (23-30, 13-30 and 16-30) decision to the Irish in the home opener.

Senior Lora Yankauskas (Paramus, NJ) led the offensive front with 11 kills, followed by junior Amanda Meyer (Naperville, IL) and freshman Sophie Cook (Colorado Springs, CO), who each had five. Sophomore Roxy Calder (Oceanside, CA) posted 15 assists to lead the way.

Freshman Jamie Godfrey (Rahway, NJ) recorded a team-high 10 digs, while senior Jocelyn Greenwald (Old Tappan, NJ) had eight.

Rutgers will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 24, to take on DePaul at the College Avenue Gymnasium at 2:00 pm.
